Customizing the Eames Aluminum Group
One of the biggest assets we have at Smart Furniture is our customization engine. When you buy from us we give you every option in regard to the product youre buying, and you can customize it right on our site. The options for customization are different for every product, and some are more customizable than others, depending on how their manufacturer wants the chair to be available. Some designers have such specific ideas when they work that they don't like to let consumers make choices about how the finished product will look. But at Smart Furniture we know that no one knows your taste, your design scheme, or your home and office better than you do. Thats why we believe in customization, and that's why we founded our company on the concept of user-controlled design. Oftentimes, the older a piece of furniture is, the less likely is is to be fully customizable. But thats not the way it is in all cases. The Eames Aluminum Group Chairs, first debuted more than half a century ago, are actually some of our more flexible and customizable classic furniture. There are lots of choices you as the buyer get to make when it comes to how these chairs will look in your home or office (or both!).
The first choices you make are big ones, and they're structural. There are actually three different types of the Eames Aluminum Group Chairs, and each of them have their own advantages and opportunities for customization. The first type of chair, the most basic, is the Eames Aluminum Group Management Chair. And there are lots of different ways to shape it to fit just what you need in a chair. The most obvious change is the arms. You can order the chair with or without the polished aluminum arms that adorn the side. When you go with arms, the chair is a little better equipped to handle tasks like desk work (gives you a place to rest your arms besides on your lap) but its also a bit more expensive. When you go without, the chair is a bit more of a side chair, and it also takes on a truly unique profile. The classic look is not interfered with, but the chair definitely takes on a different look.
Going even further, you can choose whether you want the upholstery to be traditional leather or whether youd like to go with fabric instead. When you go with the leather you re-create the classic look that has landed this chair in museums, magazines and critical appreciations for years and years. You also go with a very modern look. When you go with fabric, on the other hand, you get a more contemporary look, a softer look, that can probably fit in more rooms and design schemes. You loose the historical value of the classic leather, but you gain in other areas. Of course, from there you can keep customizing. After you choose either leather or fabric, you get to choose color. And there are myriad colors in the Herman Miller catalogue and our customization engine for you to choose from. They include wheat, black, ivory, canyon, graphite, tobacco, smoke, and honey. Each and every iteration of the Eames Aluminum Group Chair is sure to look great in your home or office and reflect your own ideas and your own sensibility.
But the management chair is not the only type of Eames Aluminum Group Chair to customize or to adjust. There are two other versions, the lounge and the executive, and they are themselves avenues of customization.
The lounge chair comes with or without an ottoman, for instance. It's tilted back, has a longer back rest than the management, and is made expressly for use as lounge furniture. The executive chair has many of the same options (like color and arms) that the management chair does, but its taller, with a high back and a unique, curvy lower back section. Its meant for the office almost exclusively. Both of these chairs offer their own twists on the familiar Eames Aluminum Group Chair format, and they all offer you, the customer, the opportunity to make this classic chair totally your own.
