The Nelson Basic Cabinet Series by Herman Miller
Herman Miller and Smart Furniture proudly bring back the George Nelson's Basic Cabinet Series, originally designed in 1946. The Basic Cabinet Series stand out as stand-alone furniture, but it's more than that. Together with the Nelson Bench, the Basic Cabinet and Drawers fit neatly together as components, combining the functionality of a modular storage system with the beauty of the Herman Miller classics.
The Herman Miller Nelson Basic Cabinet Series is a reintroduction of the original, classic casework collection designed by George Nelson in 1946. Using the Nelson Platform Bench as the platform, the Nelson Basic Cabinet Series works in conjunction with the bench to create a modular, customizable cabinet solution that easily fits many room applications.
Clean profiles with a retro feel, light brown walnut or natural oak wood veneers, and flexibility for vertical and horizontal arrangements give the Nelson Basic Cabinet Series that custom-made, built-in look.
George Nelson's vision was a living space full of things that had purpose and place but were flexible enough to change. In 1955 he stated, "People today no longer inhabit large houses with large rooms ... furniture has to fit these new dimensions comfortably and gracefully. Moreover, it has to be flexible.
