At A Glance: Solid Oak and steel combine to form one of the most unique, attractive stools in our collection. The Biped Stool is an architectural achievement that takes advantage of angles and downward force to create its minimalist form. Oak finishes are a multi-step process that begins with a wire brush that opens the grain. A base color is then applied and a contrasting grain filler is added, followed by highlighting steps. This results in distinctive contrasting grain patterns or subtle enhancements, depending on the finish.
Steel ring acts as one side of the base as well as a footrest

There are five aspects of being "Green" - and here's how this Saloom piece is an environmentally sound choice:
Handmade to Last With the soundest construction principles and most careful assembly possible, Saloom furniture is built to become an heirloom piece. You'll pass it down to the next generation as sturdy as when you first used it yourself. That's the single largest factor of environmental soundness.
Made in the USA No energy waste or pollution from seagoing transportation. In addition, this product is made in adherence to the Northeast region's strict manufacturing environmental policies.
Locally Sourced Maple Nearly 100% of the material in this product is Northeast Maple. Forestry regulations and practices in the region are strong, and forest growth is vigorous. Sustainable - and convenient, since there's no need for long-distance lumber transportation.
Low VOC Finishes The finish used on this product has high solid percentages and is considered a low Volatile Organic Compound. Special spray guns are used to ensure that most of the finish ends up on the furniture, not up the vent stack.
Strategically Minimal Packaging Enough packaging to protect the furniture during transportation - and That's it. Saloom also recycles the majority of their corrugated cartons.
