Product Overview:

Kartell Ami Ami Chair, Set of 2
designed by Tokujin Yoshioka

Ami Ami Chairs At A Glance:
The name "Ami" actually means "weave" in designer Tokujin Yoshioka's native Japan. And that's exactly what this side chair features: the brilliant combination of a weave pattern - traditional to numerous cultures - and polycarbonate materials. Ami Ami is a match for the Ami Ami Table.

What's To Like:

  • Indoors and out, the Ami Ami Chair will shrug off the elements and enliven parties.
  • Whether transparent or minimalistically opaque, this chair will help your space exude clean coolness.
  • Ami Ami is shock and scratch resistant - Kartell's figured out how to make super strong plastic chairs.

What's Not to Like:
You can likely get a less expensive chair if you really want to. We love the design, though.

The Bottom Line:
The Ami Ami Chair, with its molded warp and weft, is a great modern interpretation of timeless craftsmanship.

Features:

  • Dimensions: 33.5" h x 16" w x 19.5" d
  • Suitable for indoor and outdoor use
  • Available in transparent crystal and smoke grey or opaque red, white, or black
  • Durable polycarbonate
  • Made in Italy

Tokujin YoshiokaTokujin Yoshioka
Born in Saga, Japan in 1967, Tokujin Yoshioka worked under Shiro Kuramata in 1987 and with Issey Miyake since 1988. In 2000, he established his own studio, Tokujin Yoshioka Design. He has also collaborated with various companies both within and outside Japan, such as BMW, Toyota, Hermes, KDDI, and Swarovski. Some of his most important works are displayed as part of permanent collections in the world's well-known museums, such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Centre National d' Art et de Culture Georges Pompidou, Victoria and Albert Musem, and the Vitra Design Museum.

The Ami Ami is Yoshioka's first chair designed for Kartell. The design was inspired by woven fabric in Japan ('ami ami' is Japanese for weaving).
