At A Glance:
The Amia Stool isn't necessarily glamorous, but it's incredibly effective. It has all the comfort you'd expect from a top-of-the-line work stool like the Leap Stool, but you can buy it at a fraction of the cost. No bells and whistles, just real comfort, real support, and real simple design.
What's To Like:
The Amia Stool is a triumph of the free market. It strips away all the things you don't really need from the most high-end office stools, but it keeps all their comfort, freedom of movement, support, and color. It's lean, and it has kept only the essentials. And because of that, it costs a lot less. Like it for the simple design, like it for the back-supporting LiveLumbar system, like it for the comfort of the seat and back; love it for the price.
What's Not to Like:
We say simple design, but others might say unsophisticated design. The Amia Stool doesn't do anything new or exciting with the office stool form. But trust us, it's got a great personality.
The Bottom Line:
The Amia Stool is genteel in the cubicle and a freak (world beater?) in the comfort and ergonomics department.
The Rest of the Story:
Steelcase has done it again: the Amia Stool bests all previous competitors by being the most ergonomic, well-designed, supportive midrange work stool out there. Of course, it comes complete with all the seating advances that have made ergonomics a household word: adjustable seat depth, a flexing front edge to relieve stress and pressure on the backs of your legs, armrests that can be adjusted in four directions, convergent design on the back and base creating a comfort pocket in the seat.
The Amia Stool is a gently curved, extremely comfortable task stool with a clean, modern design. Most buyers love the look of the stool, and all love the feel of it. The back and seat have plenty of give, mixed with serious support for your spine.
The lumbar region in particular is targeted and relieved by the Amia Stool's unique LiveLumbar support system, which comes standard. LiveLumbar, a network of closely connected but largely independent flexors in the back of the stool, works by responding to even the smallest movements and adjustments made by the seated person.
The comfort, the support ... it's all right there in the name. For those who don't know, "Amia" is Italian for "Excellent office stool with unparalleled lumbar support and a rewarding, deceptively simple design."
Steelcase also pioneered the LiveLumbar system as a way of bringing the comfort and support of high-end ergonomic stools to regular folks, the ones who need it most. With a midrange starting price, the highly adaptive, absurdly comfortable, unfailingly supportive Amia Stool is well worth it.
Amia is designed for serious sitting and long days at work or the home office that can really damage your back, legs and shoulders (and especially your lumbar region). Amia takes care of all of them with its revolutionary and ingenious LiveLumbar technology. You may not see it, but you'll definitely feel it - and that's what really matters.
Buy Amia today. Your back will love you.
