Spectra Modern is a collection of furniture from Spectra Wood, a company that began as a hobby more than 39 years ago. Creating cutting boards, chess boards, candle holders, and other small items, Larry Roeshot and son Doug had such a warm reception at their local arts festival that they became more serious about their craft. The State College, Pennsylvania company has grown to employ 110 craftspeople at their facility, and all of their products are wholly made in the United States. Spectra Modern's employees are trained to respect durability and quality, and each of them is empowered to reject any piece that isn't just right; the result is a line of furniture that they'd be just as proud to own as you will be, real heirloom-quality pieces.
The Asher California King Bed ships in three boxes. Some assembly is required, but should take no longer than 15-30 minutes. Instructions and hardware hooks (used to attach the rails to the headboard and footboard) are provided. The bed is manufactured with pre-drilled holes for the support slats, so a simple screwdriver will be the only tool required for assembly.
The trend in furniture manufacturing is to promote one's company as "green," thereby giving it some cache among those for whom the earth's health is a major concern. On the flip side of that trend are companies like Spectra Modern; their commitment to environmentally safe principles has been since the inception of the company and not as a reaction to societal trends. Making furniture with lasting designs, recycling their wood dust with local farmers for soil enrichment, and using lower VOCs and HAPs in the finishing of their products are just some of the ways Spectra Modern contributes to the health of our environment. In addition, every single product is manufactured in one facility in State College, Pennsylvania.
