Chenille:
Super soft and cozy, "chenille" is the French word for caterpillar. It feels like soft yarn - yet can be extremely durable. Most chenille is a polyester blend but can also be 100% polyester.

Microfiber:
Most people know what microfiber is. Super durable and usually made of polyester, it is a material made from insanely fine threads. We're talking 1/100th the thickness of a human hair. Whoa! It leaves no lint and can be woven - or not woven.

Pattern:
We lumped all the patterns into this one category, no matter what types of fabric they are.Since most of you are probably not looking for a pattern this is easiest. Should you need detailed info about the feel of any patterned fabric, please call our sales team at 888-467-6278.

Suede:
Like a cross between microfiber and velvet, suede feels just like sueded leather ... except it's fabric. It has a lower pile than velvet and feels similar to microfiber, but with thicker fibers.

Sunbrella:

100% Sunbrella Acrylic fabric is perfect for every room in your home. Sunbrella fabric will withstand your messy kids and red wine spills - and it's perfect for a sunroom because it resists fading. It is heavy duty, rated for 15,000 double rubs before showing wear. Its only drawback might be the feel - it's not the softest fabric out there.

Tweed:

Originally made of wool, tweeds were vintage fabrics, often in square, herringbone, or diamond patterns that felt rough to the touch but were very durable. Today tweeds can be very soft, as they are made of wool or polyester blends. The most beloved feature of a tweed is the multicolor fabric it displays when several different hues are blended. It can really give a simple piece depth and completely transform a space from "meh" to "wow."

Velvet:

Typically 100% polyester, velvet is a high pile suede. If you want to feel luxury in your space, opt for a velvet. It can be cumbersome, though, since imprints from visitors can be visible and may need to be smoothed out with your hand.

Woven:

Woven fabric is a textile created by weaving (genius, right?). It is made with a loom and has many threads woven on an axis. Its weave direction allows it to stretch only diagonally. To stabilize them, many woven materials have additional backing to give them added strength.

Cushion Type   Click For More Info
Standard Cushions:
Contain a core of HR (high resiliency) foam with a minimum 2.0 density, wrapped in multiple layers of polyester fiber and encased in a non-woven ticking material.

Y Lux Cushions:

Contain a core of HR (high resiliency) 2.5 pound "Qualux" polyurethane foam banded with silicone impregnated polyester fiber. This cushion is then encased in a down proof tick cover and has a lifetime warranty on the foam.

Feather and Down Cushions:
Cushions contain a core of HR 2.0 pound foam encased in a channeled, down proof, envelope filled with a mixture of polyester fiber and feather and down.

Which should you get?
All three are quality but Y Lux will better keep its shape and give you more support than down with a more plush feel than standard. Feather and down cushions sit like butter. After a long day you melt away into the cushions and may need help getting up.

About the Manufacturer

Younger Logo Local design, local manufacturing, local company: based out of North Carolina, Younger Furniture has been delivering American-made style, quality, and comfort since 1989. Younger's fresh sofas, chairs, loveseats, and sectionals are known for their solid construction and excellent upholstery. With an ability to produce both modern sofas and traditional furniture, Younger neatly straddles the modern/traditional divide ... without compromise. Their Avenue 62 Collection illustrates their ability to add a Mid-Century look to their oeuvre.

Younger Furniture is becoming more and more widely known for their quality of craftsmanship. Techniques that ensure durability - such as corners that are blocked, double-doweled, glued, screwed, and (for good measure) stapled - give each customer a sofa or lounge chair that can last for decades with the proper care. Generous padding is added in all the places you’ll need it, including under the upholstery at the bottom of each sofa’s front, ensuring comfort and a smooth look. Younger Furniture pieces tend towards the medium-firm side for a well-supported sit, with the option for a YLux cushion upgrade for a softer sit. This enables each customer - whether she prefers a firm sit or a cushy sit - to find comfort in the Younger line of sofas.
