Becker Designed Inc. was founded in 1984 by Bill Becker with the goal of making top-notch modern furniture design accessible to the public. Today, BDI is best know for its home entertainment systems, but it has also applied its vision and craftsmanship in its lines of tables, shelving, and mirrors. BDI is located in Chantilly, Virginia.
We purchased this stand based soley on the photos, description, and reviews on the Smart Furniture web site. When the stand arrived, I was very pleased overall with the quality of packaging / protection, the materials used, design, and construction. The unit is very easy to assemble, is extremely functional, and looks great. BDI used only the highest quality hardware, and paid special attention to detail when designing and building this stand. No sharp edges or burrs you would find in cheaper furniture.
Service and delivery comments:
When I sent several emails to Smart Furniture, they were all responded to very quickly, and politely, as if we were speaking face to face. It was an excellent experience. The product was delivered within the time promised, which was communicated by email. One small component arrived damaged. It looked as though it had been damaged upon packaging (not during shipment). Smart Furniture worked expediently to have BDI ship me out a replacement, and they did so extremely quickly. The entire process was very professional, and the best I have experienced. This is the first review of an internet purchase I have made, and I have made many. Would recommend Smart Furniture to anyone.

I had shopped what seemed forever looking for the right furniture to hold my new 63" TV and gear. We were looking for something contemporary, practical, and stylish. It needed to be wife-approved. I first settled on a cabinet from Ethan Allen. It was not truly "made" for AV equipment like the BMI piece. Fortunately the wood top split as did its replacement. In further scouring the internet, we came across BMI. What a piece of furniture. It did everything we wanted. It's a beautiful black piece with a contemporary look. Smart furniture.com was so easy to deal with. They gave a reduced shipping rate and told me I could return it at their expense. Well that wasn't an issue. I was amazed at the cabinet. It was incredibly easy to set up. It came with all the necessary tools and easy to read instructions. Being an engineer, I was impressed with how it's put together. All the pieces are high quality. The base is solid. It has wheels so you can easily move it. Even the screws are excellent. It is made for AV equipment! It has an awesome amount of space for everything. The top drawer holds a speaker with mesh covering. The cabinet doors are high-end and self closing. The back of the cabinet has a sliding panel so you can get to all your connections easily. It even comes with velcro ties to handle your wires.
You won't find any cabinets better suited for your home theater. And your wife will love it!
