Arms
Chadwick is available in a no arms, fixed arms, and a height and width adjustable arms version. Details for each are below.

No Arms: nothing to see here, folks. *please note arms cannot be added later

Fixed Arms: 8.5" above the seat these arms do not adjust at all but they are very comfy. Both fixed and adjustable armpads have a spring suspension that gives your elbows a smiley face when rested on the pad. You have 19.5" in between armrests.

Height and Width Adjustable Arms: 6.9" - 9.4" in range for placement above the seat and 18.5"-20.5" between the armrests. No levers for adjustment, all you do is lift the armpad to adjust arm height. Simply move the arms up in 5, 0.5" increments for a total of 2.5". To lower the arms lift them all the way up and they will return to the lowest point. The armpads also adjust in width by 1" in or out but you need a 5/32" Allen wrench to do it.

*There is also a version called tall adjustable arms that has a height range of 8.3"-10.8" above the seat. Should you deem this ideal for you, please reach out to our sales team to place your all sales final order at 888.467.6278. (Options we don't represent online are not covered by our very generous return policy). These taller arms do not have an upcharge on top of the height and width price.

Which should you go for? It really depends on your needs. Most people opt for the most adjustable arms for several reasons. The features allow you to rest your shoulders and maintain an ergonomic posture no matter what height you or your desk is. It also allows you to quickly move them out of the way when exiting the chair.
Tilt Adjustment   Click For More Info
Tilt Adjustment
Chadwick is available with either a basic control or with a tilt stop control.

Basic Control: This option only allows you adjust the tension to which the chair respondes when you lean back in it. Commonly called a tilt tension knob this is usually set once for a particular user and never changes. The knob is under the front of the seat between your legs and turns left or right to make it easier or more difficult to recline.

Tilt Stop Control: The tilt stop is an upright tilt limiter. Here's how it works: the in-and-out lever design (on the left side of the chair when sitting in it) operates with an audible click. Out is engaged and in is not engaged. When engaged the chair can only recline by 5 degrees. When not engaged the chair reclines by the full 26 degrees.

Which should you go for? Since you can't add the tilt lock after the fact most people opt for it. If this chair is going to be used at a conference table you probably don't need it.
Lumbar Support   Click For More Info
Lumbar Support

If you opt for the additional lumbar support (the curvature of the back coupled with the mesh provides a good bit alone) it attaches magnetically to the back suspension fabric. It height adjusts to anyplace you want. How awesome is that? All you do is separate both halves of the lumbar support and place them on the chair where your lumbar needs support.

Knoll Chadwick Chair
designed by Don Chadwick

Simple is sometimes better than complicated.

Knoll Chadwick Chair Tilt

The Chadwick chair combines a synchronized control and tilt tension (Active Suspension Technology) with a supremely breathable seat and back fabric to create a cradle for your body. The fabric works to provide body-conforming support without requiring you to figure out a bunch of controls to get it "just right," and the active suspension allows your torso to open up when you lean back; your circulatory system is given a better environment to do its work, and you end up more comfortable as a result.

And all that with the least amount of work on your part. Simply adjust tilt tension and seat height and you're ready to sit comfortably.

The Chadwick chair's built-in lumbar support (enhanced by the curvature of the task chair's back) gives you the support you need. If you need more, there's an optional lumbar pad (also easy-to-operate: simply install using the provided magnets) to give you the comfort you're looking for.

The Chadwick chair by Knoll: innovatively simple.
