I Need a Cobi Chair (but shhhhh, it is kind of a secret). When I saw that my practical black chair from the local office supply (PBC) had a tear in the seat, I smiled (even on the inside). I've been holding my tongue for over ten years now. PBC was a "surprise" gift from my sweet husband to me during law school. I don't really like surprises, and I don't really "love" PBC, never have, never will. Don't get me wrong, PBC has seen me through three years of law school. PBC saw me through 4 years of practicing law (Sundays were optional). And then the children came and PBC got some time off (stored away with the in-laws) - practicing law became optional, I opted not.

We moved about from house to house until we settled. And despite my hopes that PBC had been forgotten - nope, home it came, dusted off and ready for work. (Sweet husband is an engineer, not one to forget PBC). PBC saw me through some tough times when I learned almost three years ago that my sweet boy (now 7) has some scary medical troubles. I literally leaned on PBC through streams of tears and hours, days, months of consult with Dr. Internet (and real doctors too). Now PBC supports me as I support others and work to push for more research into sweet boy's rare medical condition (it's a terrible one). I'm a daily collaborator in need of a new chair - quick, hurry, before sweet husband replaces PBC with another.

I'm looking for "true chair love" this time around, the Cobi Chair and me, meant to be (we even share the same initials, "CC"). Sweet husband and I have been married now for almost 15 years - I don't think I can be quiet about another practical black chair (and I know it's coming, he just came home with a black laptop bag for the family laptop!). The Cobi Chair and me - my marriage is certain to last at least another 15 years.

I would love to win this for my husband. He has had the same home office chair for 10 years. With 5 people sometime's sharing the one computer kid's included there just isn't much left of it. Sadly ee are moving to a new place as our small hobby farm is being foreclosed."Mr" shabby the chair will be staying here all alone. With the kid's grown now and hubby will be cramped into his own computer station in the new kitchen this new Cobi chair would be super for him.

I am writing in hopes that my truthful submission will grab the attention of the judges that will decide the winners of the five fortunate recipients of a Cobi. Five is a pertinent number in this contest so I am going to break my reasons down to: THE TOP FIVE REASONS OUR FAMILY NEEDS TO WIN A COBI.

1. One size does not fit all when it comes to a computer chair. I am tall and according to our scale, weigh approximately *mumble, mumble*. My 17 year old son is well proportioned, tall, athletic, and never has to step on a scale. My husband tips the scale at, well, let's just say he literally tips the scale and argues that mashed potatoes are, indeed, a vegetable! To conclude reason number one: A Cobi will adjust to different weights and will not make snide comments or judge you about it while doing so. A Cobi loves you for who you are, and is forgiving of your size.

2. A comfortable environment assists in inspiration. My son is a senior in high school. He has been taking college courses via internet since he was a Junior. Many of his courses involve essay writing. He does this work on our desktop PC sitting in our computer chair. While in a deep thought mode, he will often lean back in the chair, plant his feet up on the wall, his brain almost reaching those words he was searching for, only to be abruptly interrupted by his mother, "Don't lean back like that in that chair! I'm out of glue!" Yes, our chair has been glued and re-glued throughout the years and the slightest wrong position will force the weak points to give-away. A Cobi chair is designed to allow a hard working student to sit in any way he/she finds comfort and inspiration. In fact, a Cobi encourages you to move around.

3. I am a leaner. Meaning, specifically, I tend to lean toward the computer with one elbow on my desk, my fist propped to my head while holding my mouse in the other hand. This is partially due to the fact that we may break our chair if we lean back (and I really am out of glue) and I just find this position suits me like a glove. I do not want to sound pathetic, however, I have arthritis in my neck. Like many other have noted in their submissions, pain is a factor to be considered when sitting in an uncomfortable position for any length of time. Cobi is to the rescue with a first aid solution. Cobi has a flexible back and it is automatic. I have to stop here and ponder: "Is this a chair or a robot?"

4. A little house for a large amount of people can be cumbersome. We reside in a small community (population: about 70) and our entertainment is extremely limited. We socialize by inviting people over. Since we live in a small house, space is sparse. When we have guests, our PC chair becomes a place to sit while visiting. It does swivel so with a careful turn, I normally sit in it to face our guests. (and to avoid telling them, "Don't lean back") By owning a Cobi, I would not hesitate to seat a guest in it. On the contrary, I would feel proud to have a friend feel it's comfort as I bask in the glory of having such a modern, well engineered, piece of furniture. I believe it would make for good conversation too!

5. And the TOP reason that our family needs a Cobi (drum roll, please): I will be hitting the one half century mark this year. The Cobi chair would be a magnificent and perfect birthday surprise. While Cobi is undergoing a complete Lifecycle Assessment evaluation of it's impact on the environment, my family and I would be enjoying it's impact on our lives!

I'm a furniture designer and maker. The most unappealing part of my job is the time spent in front of the computer. I KNOW the Cobi will transform me into a fabulous marketer, administrator and tax specialist. That little kink in my neck that gets progressively worse and worse as I sit in my ancient, uncomfortable desk chair will melt away, as will the stress that accompanies it. I will be able to put the hideous red yoga ball that I sit on when I can't face the chair back in the closet.

I believe I should win a Cobi chair for the following reasons: I believe in a smarter, more efficient way of producing and consuming, and am a fervent public speaker of my beliefs. I also believe that I can never find the right chair in any store, and always end up purchasing the least expensive, which is often the least ergonomic, and with the amount of time I spend doing research at home, I don't benefit from such chairs at all. I am also a tattoo artist at home, therefore I see many people come through my office area, and it would definitely generate a lot of interest for your products to have a beautiful custom eco-smart Cobi chair here. I am a firm believer in free karmic trading, in providing for others for the precise pleasure of knowing that someone else is happy. I tattoo for free, and when people ask me what I want in return, I respond "I want you to do something for someone else, with the same idea in mind." To receive a Cobi chair would be grandly appreciated! :)

I have to be quiet because I don't want my current chair to hear what I am up to...I asked her to pose for a pic that I will send in a sec (I told her it was for a calendar so she wouldn't get suspicious). The fact of the matter is that my old chair, as much as I love her, is a pain in the...um...back, neck and other regions. I am an artist and struggle with back and neck issues that lead to numbness and tingling in my hands, forearms and sometimes feet. Sitting for any length of time is hard on me and I would love-I mean all out LOVE-a Cobi that would allow me the ability to sit for longer-work for longer-and enjoy it!

So in the most dignified manor I can muster...Pick Me! Pick Me! Oh, pretty please-Pick Me!

No baloney, found my chair on the side of the road. It smelled bad but we cleaned it up. My husband used it for a few years, then bought a nice leather chair. I used it for a few more years and a few moves through different states. It's hanging in there, with it's table cloth cover. A new Cobi chair would be great.

So my record time, seated, in a chair, has to be at least 14 hours. There are definitely times that I don't allow myself to stand up to use the bathroom or lay down to sleep. Strategic placement of everything I need, the coffee machine, bum wad, cell phone charger, pillow and blanket, extremely unhealthy snacks and energy drinks, all within an arms reach is very important.

As you may wonder what is wrong with me, the answer is quite simple. I am a crazed, all-nighter, stress indulgent, architecture student. After days and nights of sitting in front of models and computers, I have become pretty aware of the fact that no matter how ''well-designed'' or expensive a chair is, it just can''t satisfy the needs of architecture students. Back pain, leg numbness, stomach cramps, herniated discs, all normal effects of extended chair usage.

Therefore, I would find great pleasure in putting your Cobi chair to the test, to see if it can support the demands of the studio environment. And, as an added perk, if it is as wonderful as you claim, I would be likely to spec it in future projects... A sort of you relieve my back, I'll relieve yours type situation; since it is chairs we are talking about.

My duties consume me and lay to waste the ambitions of colleagues. I scale mountains by fingertips and woo women with my savage and sensuous trombone playing. I make 30 minute brownies in 20 minutes. I develop small nations and destroy them with spies because the long view is healthier. I chat with presidents and discuss Plato with sommeliers. I, on whim, offer breakthroughs to the human genome project. I consult with Scaled Composites. Yesterday afternoon, I completed transparent aluminum.

This stuff hurts my back. I need a cobi.

Dear Cobi: I think you should come live in my house. I've just moved 3,200 miles from home and am making a new home. While searching for a job, mostly online, I spent a lot of time with my Costco folding chair. I don't want to settle, but right now, I just don't feel like I have a choice. Cobi, YOU are the one I want. Please consider my invitation. I love you dearly, and want only the best for you. Hope to see you soon. I'm saving you a seat!

I would REALLY appreciate winning a Cobi chair because right now my girlfriend and I share one chair in our studio. When we are both working we have to lug one of the big chairs in from our kitchen table. This becomes quite a hassle moving them back and forth. Now we usually end up eating sitting on the couch and leave the chair from the kitchen table in the office. Help us stop this game of musical chairs.

My chair plays multiple roles in my life. I am in graduate school for my Masters in Architecture and all of my time is spent at my desk, in my chair. It functions as a kitchen chair, conference chair, bed, step stool, lounge chair, foot rest, dog bed. The chair school gives us is old and hurts my back and butt. Not only do I want a cool Cobi chair - but I need one! Being a graduate student I can't afford a new chair.

Why do I need a cobi chair? I'll tell you why, we decided to home school our family last year. What I didn't know was how much standing and sitting (in a Cobi chair would be helpful) at my home computer was involved. When my son asks "Who discovered Saturn's rings?". Well, we go to our computer to look it up, now that involves some sitting (Cobi chair would fit me perfectly). When my younger son asks "Who invented marshmallows?" (and I'm sure he needs that answer to get into a good college) our home computer has the answer. Some days involve sitting (in a incredible Cobi chair would be terrific for this) and reading through our Childcraft books, and yes they still make them, sometimes the older they are, the more fun we have.

I wondered why my young little body was acting like an old little body. It's my hard hand me down office chair (which is not at all a Cobi chair). I'm only 4'11" and find it hard to adjust my chair to my petite frame. I need to save my back for running around with my boys don't you know it. Then there is my husband who has to adjust the computer chair to his height.

I want to look cool and hip (and not need a hip replacement after a long day) in a Cobi chair while home educating my boys. I love the colors they come in, like a having a tropic home office vacation. I like being comfortable while sitting and Cobi chairs make one feel superb while schooling. I want to announce to others "I own a cobi chair!!"

Firstly, we bought a computer chair from some office department store. Perfect. Then our home business went under. Bummer. Then we sold the desk, chair and computer to the new job. Score. Then we decide to work full time and do part time stuff from home. Fun. New desk, new computer, no money for new chair. Free Craigslist Ikea chair.

I like to lean back on the chair, balance on one leg, basically anything besides all legs on the floor. Wife says will break. I say no way. Chair breaks. Wife says I told you so. Ouch.

Find excellent drafting chair at the Goodwill. Score two. New chair hydraulic likes to sink after five minutes. Time to fix. I take off the seat and press this tiny red dot on the seat poll. Seat explodes. I now have tiny ball bearings embedded in my forehead. Thank God for glasses.

Lastly, I go into the vacant lot next to ours and find a block of wood that looks about the right length and cut, sand, glue and screw into place on the old wooden creaky unpadded spray painted black sure to kill your back free Craigslist Ikea chair that I am now sitting in typing this letter in hopes of scoring a sweet chair for the third and hopefully last time.

I spent the last three years being a stay-at-home dad and now that my son is going to pre-school, I am getting ready to get back to life as a full-time developer! I remember the long days (sometimes, starting at 6 a.m. and ending just after 10 p.m.!) - working, trying to solve problems, create new design, or just sitting through endless phone meetings in a not-so-comfortable office chair from the local stationery store.

I am excited to get back to work but not excited to go back to a chair that is not supportive!! I would love to win an ergonomic Cobi chair that offers better support as I get back into the groove.

My son recently had a brain injury that they told me he would not recover from, and would die or be on life support for the rest of his life. He did make some recovery in the hospital, but because he had no health insurance he was not able to get any physical therapy, or therapy of any kind. We did all the rehab ourselves, and we did not really know what to do. He is now walking and talking (not great but much better than we were told he would ever be able to do) He is also now able to use the computer and will spend several hours a day at the computer talking to his friends, and trying to write about his experience. It would be so great if he was able to be comfortable while he was at the computer.

I think that I should win a Cobi chair because the chair that I currently have was bought used. On top of that, it has already had coffee spilled on it, my 2 year old son was sitting on it with a nakie behind and pee pee'd on it and it's definitely on it's way out the door. Hurricane Katrina destroyed my residence in New Orleans so I was forced to leave my job and the city. Because I lived so many years abroad I don't have a lot of contacts in America and I didn't really have a safe port in the storm to go to. I ended up staying in hotels and moving a couple of times. I'm still unsettled and stuck in Arizona trying to get to San Francisco eventually.

With all the moving I had to let go of some of my furniture, which was a shame as most of it was brand new or antiques. But the stress and strain of storing everything and moving it all the time got to be too much. Now I'm settled until I move to California so I am trying to recoop some of my losses.

Hello Smart Furniture! I work for East Tennessee State University in the Student Affairs Office. I help coordinate First Year Programs for incoming students, and let me tell you there are A LOT of incoming students. Don't get me wrong, I Iove my job, but it is tough being in a GREAT, customer friendly mood all the time.

So here is a little information about my job. ETSU's enrollment has been on the climb for the last five years. We have five orientations throughout summer with about 1200 people at each one. Then there is Preview, a program for first time freshman, it is an event that caters to about a thousand freshman under the age of 23 for three days straight! I run around constantly; all over the university. Along with being everywhere on campus, I have to entertain, supervise, and still be super cool to thousands of freshman all summer long.

You may be asking, well that is just three months out of the year, surprisingly, it is all year long. We have orientations starting in January and go through December.

As you can tell, I am in total need of the Cobi Chair. My current desk chair is horrible. Whenever I sit down, I feel the four screws going into my hot derriere. It is so uncomfortable. It would be such a great feeling if I could actually relax at my desk versus sitting on my legs to give my butt a rest. I am telling you, my behind falls asleep while I sit at my desk. I would be more rested in a Cobi chair, and in return be a better employee and keep my butt on point!

PLEASE give me a Cobi Chair!! I need it!!!

My chair that I'm sitting in at this very moment is one of the most aggravating chairs I've ever had the displeasure of sitting in. The actual seat support is made of metal, or wood or something hard, then sticky pleather spread over to sit on, with long-crushed polyfill or something in between (so, zero butt comfort). The back of the chair is at a LITERAL 90-degree angle to the seat, MAYBE 91-degrees. There is no leaning back. And, in case you're wondering, the back of the chair is about as comfortable to lean on as the bottom is to sit on. The rolly wheels on the bottom of the chair barely work. The height-adjust is slightly broken, after awhile the chair will lower itself farther and farther down from the position I had put it at. The "armrests" (designed not to be used as arm rests, or at least that's what I assume from their level of comfort) have a weird curvy design so I sometimes get loose clothing stuck on the end when I stand up. The armrests also don't fit into the length of the desk's leg opening, so fingers get caught in between the chair and desk when I push the chair in. I already have a whacked-out posture, and this chair induces hours of slouching while I work. I don't know who designed this evil chair. Or why I bought it.

Bottom line, I would absolutely, positively LOVE a new Cobi chair to work in.

Why Cobi? Because I've done all I can to customize an old steel frame chair and it still comes up short. First I reupholstered; the blue vinyl had to go, and the green-striped linen did the trick. But nothing is worse than a damp back. I need a Cobi chair that breathes!

When I noticed the wear on my wood floors, I bought furniture sliders for the feet. The adhesive didn't hold. So I bought casters, which worked wonders. I could roll in and out with ease and my floor saw noticeably less wear. The casters had one unfortunate side effect, raising the chair 3 inches.

My knees and the keyboard tray, formally cordial, are now at constant odds. When a fight ensues, the keyboard tray invariably wins. The steel frame is adamant that there's nothing it can do; it won't adjust to my new circumstances.

I need a Cobi, a chair customized to my needs (and my orange desk) from the very start.

My husband is a paramedic/firefighter who works 24 hours shifts on duty. He puts his life on the line each day. Whether it is a burning building with people and aniamals trapped inside, vehicular accidents, the outcome of gang violence or a neighbor having a heart attack, my husband responds. He has been doing this for 30 years full time even after sustaining a life threatening injury on duty. In his spare time he teaches emergency medicine at Milwaukee Area Technical College.

He could really use a beautiful, comfortable, ergonomic chair when working from home on his computer in regards to class material or relaxing after a difficult shift. The cobi offers everything a 6'2", 225lb firefighter, paramedic, instructor could want....comfort, beauty, style, ergonomics, adjustable height, arm rests, multiple wheels for stability and easy movement and many other options. (how about a foot ring and a cup holder for coffee? Does it come in red?) This Cobi chair just might prove to be so comfortable that he will want to roll out to the kitchen table and eat his dinner from it. And that's ok with me. He deserves it.

My home office chair is an unwieldly miserably uncomfortable antique that emits a 150 decibel caterwaul with the slightest suggestion of movement. This annoying screech precludes all telephonic communication and business and causes even the most unfamiliar acquaintance to berate me.

It was love at first sight for me when I saw the Cobi. I love its sleek, attractive design, the color choices in base, frame and seat. I love that the Cobi has a "weight-activated" mechanism that adjusts to any derriere. This is a particularly important feature as I share a home office chair with my husband.

Why would one want a Cobi chair? Would it be for the comfort, but of course, but everyone would say that. The funky and refreshing design and color choices, why those don't hurt either. Or even the name along, Cobi - fun. There are many reasons why someone, anyone, I would want a Cobi Chair, and the free part doesn''t hurt either. Honestly though, for me it's all of those things and more.

I've been in the same low end office chair for the past six plus years. It is not comfortable, in any posture or position. It is not stylish, smart or sharp looking. It doesn't provoke or promote any happiness on my behalf, it instead simply holds my lower half.

I have just recently graduated college with a degree in Fine Arts Education and have spent many an hour in this chair working on lesson plans and other works for the teaching half of the gig and the rest of the time hovering over the same desk creating illustrations and artwork. Needless the say, and my back would agree - the whole situation is just not working for us. I am also on the move, I am moving form the east coast down to Texas at the end of the month and will be needing new furniture in the new place as I can't afford to be lugging what I have now there.

So for me, winning this Cobi chair is more than just upgrading to a more comfortable life. More than just looking sharp in a brand spanking new chair. For me it would mean an area of my new home of comfort, literally and figuratively. True it would bring real comfort and ease on my back as I work long hours at a new job in a new home in my new life. But also figuratively in the sense that I know that when I come home from work and need to sit down to manage the rest of the day and plan for the next that I'll have a place to do that. A place that I'll want to go. A Cobi will do that for me. I can't afford to buy a chair as nice as a this, and they certainly are not giving them away, well I guess in a way they are, but that is besides the point.

So why would someone want a Cobi, if you have to ask then you're over-thinking it. All you need to do is sit in one and you'll know why.

I should win because I love these chairs. From the moment I saw them I new that me and Cobi were destined to be together for always. Cobi's sleek frame will fit me like a glove. I can't wait to rest my body in Cobi's soft embrace. Please make my dream come true.

The "No phony baloney" story as to why I should receive a Cobi chair is because I currently have no chair. I graduated from Florida State University last year with a degree in Geography and I currently live in New Orleans. I am officially working as a surveyor to build a bridge, but the whole reason I took the job here was to explore my interest in Human Geography exploring the social class changes post Katrina, 4 years on. That said I edit roughly 100 pictures a day that I have taken. Being a young dude trying to pay off student loans, work, and enjoy NOLA, I have no spare money to set up an actual workspace.

My work station consists of a desk built out of a couple of boxes I moved my stuff here in, with a piece of plywood resting on top of them, and 2 Georgia Peach crates stacked which are utilized as my chair. On to why a Cobi chair would be the best choice for me over any other chair in the world. When I was much younger I used to ride BMX bikes and I was really into trying stupid [tricks -ed.] (tail whips, back flips, etc.) and now I have many back problems.

I want something comfortable, that I can change the supports quickly ( my posture changes depending on my motivational level) and will look good in my new "office space" I am creating.

My office chair mortifies me almost daily. When I sit down it makes a funny noise of air escaping the cushion that sounds like an embarrassing bodily function. Please let me win the wonderful Cobi Chair-not only because it is fashionable and smart but because I have a reputation at the office now as "that guy" no matter how much I explain that "it really IS the chair-not me!" I think with the awesome Cobi Chair I would have a new reputation as the that guy who really knows how to sit in style!

I have this great olive green (ugh!) office chair that I got at a Habitat ReStore (great idea) that works beautifully but does not fit in my home office/spare bedroom. I would really love to design my own Cobi chair as I'd love a great color and a chair with good back support.

My chair I use at my computer desk is ready to be replaced. It won't stay up to the height I adjust it to anymore. I never know when I sit down, where I will end up. Plus, these Cobi chairs come in such fun and exciting colors, and I definitely would love to have a bright colorful chair like this to sit it and do my work.

I'm currently sitting on a lawn chair at my computer....which has a mind of its own and tends to fold up with me in it. I'm more than willing to let this baby go for a more comfortable and less aggressive chair!!!!!

I'm a stencil artist that spends countless hours cutting away mutli layered stencils. After a while your back can take a beating. With the Cobi chair it will definitely help with this problem. Plus I just finally got my very own studio after 5 years! Cobi would look very handsome in my spot. Thanks again and fingers crossed.

I have a home art studio. On one side is my computer, the other my craft table. In front of my computer I have the standard molded plastic Ikea work chair. I used to cover the seat with felt from my fabric stash for a bit of cushioning. Now I have a cushion that was made by a teenager for a school project. In front of the craft table is a chair that I dragged in from the kitchen. I adjust the height of the craft table sometimes, which means I have to raid the other rooms for chairs of the appropriate height.

This is why a need a Cobi chair! Picture me gliding from computer to craft table - effortlessly adjusting the chair's height - and in a stylish and comfortable manner!

My desk chair needs to go to the land fill. The back is tilted back and the adjustment is broken. I have to put pillows behind me. I spend 6 hours a day in this chair because I work at home. Please give me a new Cobi chair....I'm begging.
