My curent chair is in pieces. It has been repaired many, many times. It has been welded, epoxed, and even a car seat cover put over it, please help me!

I should win a Cobi chair because the chair I sit in at my computer desk is an antique and I have a pillow and blanket over the seat because the seat is so worn down that the wood frame cuts into my legs and I always get a back ache. Plus I think the Cobi chair looks so pretty and comfortable. I love it.

Because when I was a little kid, I had a friend named Colby and I would call him Cobi instead, thus, receiving a Cobi chair would bring back childhood memories every time I will sit down.

I am a technical support agent, who is also going to school for computer science at my local community college with an eye to transfer in the next year. Last year I threw my back out working my local Ren Faire, and it has not been the same since. I spend a great deal of time in front of my computer and having a ergonomic chair would help greatly. I am also a huge perponate of green technologies and am hoping to start writing my own blog on the subject within the year, doing that from an eco-friendly chair would be about as eco-punk as i can get without the chair being free... wait that could happen.

I read daily about smart energy and energy efficiency, and my back needs good support for the hours I spend in front of the computer; and also I am going home to work in the Virgin Islands and the Cobi chair can also be useful on the gallery.

I would like to win a Cobi so that I can give it to my husband. We are both retired, but he is in his office a lot of the time paying bills, managing retirement fund, searching the internet for best prices on items we need, and checking news. However, he would never buy a new office chair (even though he sits in old leatherette dining style chair), because that's a luxury item to him, not a need despite his lower back problems that could be helped with lumbar support. In other words, the Cobi would be a blessing and a unique gift for me to give to him.

My wife left me and took all my furniture. I would love a Cobi chair to sit on in my apartment. If I had this chair I would be able to do pro bono work for schools across the country. I would be able to improve my programming skills to create beautiful free user friendly applications for non-profit organizations. I would make sure my daughter loves the chair as well so that she only uses Cobi in the future. Think of me as the butterfly that flaps it's wings and creates something bigger that has a huge impact.

My current chair was bought second hand. While much better than the kitchen chair I used to use, it squeeks terribly and the spring provides no resistance to leaning back.

Well I am going to tell you why, instead of the hundreds maybe thousands of other applicants deserve to win the Cobi chair, but first I will tell you a joke. "When NASA first started sending up astronauts, they quickly discovered that ballpoint pens would not work in zero gravity. To combat the problem, NASA scientists spent a decade and $12 billion to develop a pen that writes in zero gravity, upside down, underwater, on almost any surface including glass and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to 300 degrees C. The Russians used a pencil."

Now that you are in a better mood (hopfully) I will tell you why i deserve the chair. I am a architect, I work in a large firm in the middle of New York, every day, at least 50 people walk past the back of my workspace, these are wealthy clients who are designing their new homes and what do new homes need? new furniture, so basically my new Cobi chair would suddenly become one huge advert, along with being able to sit with comfort (as I do spend all day behind a computer)

Now...to tell you about my current chair, as I cannot send a picture, (reasons withheld........) I have a non-rotational, non-adjustable, cheap budget chair. I even had to bring in my own cushions help me survive the day sitting in this chair, as sitting in this chair for 10 hours is like being tortured. Literally. No joke, but this could all change!, the new Cobi chair would cure this, and with the new set of shiny wheels on the chair i could participate in office chair racing and hockey with an amazing sense of BLING. So that's all I can write...I have to get back to work now, at least 5 people walked past while I was writing this so, just think, the possibilities are endless.

I am a disabled veteran that sits at my desk most of the time. One of my favorite pass times is to enter contests. It keeps my mind busy and off my disability. I have worn my chair out from spending so much time in it. I think a Cobi chair fits me because I love color.

I am a designer, but have a crappy chair that I sit in all day and night while I create designs on a computer screen, thus I get designer cramps and designer back aches, the designer cramps inhibit my inspiration, so I do yoga to get rid of the cramps and aches. Ahh yoga, if only I didn't have to go back to the old crappy chair. Maybe, just maybe if yoga and a new Cobi chair could work together to provide lasting comfort, I could set my imagination free and create designs that could sell. Then I can give my employee my old chair so he can stop sitting on the floor. For my backs sake and my employees sake. We need chairs.

My boyfriend and I both spend a lot of time staring at screens; he's a film maker, and I'm in my last semester of school, where I do graphic design and write, oh, let's say 27 research papers each week. We recently moved into a new apartment, and the only chairs in it are the four (admittedly awesome) 1930s Art Deco pieces that came with the dining room table (also Art Deco - made of metal, but with artificial wood grain; very bizarre). We've spent the past two months looking for a desk chair that we can a) afford and b) sit in without cringing at the amount of a) damage we might be doing to our backs and b) damage to the environment that we're implicitly condoning by buying more plastic-laden junkers. We've thought of getting an armchair, bar stools, stacking wooden crates, or doing all of our work standing up; what we continue to do on a daily basis is drag the classic-but-silly Art Deco chairs across the room from the table (and back again when it's time for dinner).

Imagine the joy that welled up in our hearts - our poor, eco-sympathetic but fiscally-powerless hearts! - when we saw on Inhabitat the offer of a hot-off-the-press office chair that was a) sustainably made, and therefore good to the planet it lives on, and b) flexible and self-adjusting, and therefore good for the bodies that will sit on it - in whatever sitting postures they fancy! For the documentary-making man, who chooses to sit with one foot under him and both elbows on the desk, or for the young lady furiously scribbling on her tablet, the Cobi chair could be the source of long-sought peace of mind in an apartment besmirched with Art Deco and defiled by scratch marks on the floor, tellingly describing a path from table to desk (and back again when it's time for dinner). Help us, cobi [cobi-wan kenobe?], you're our only hope.

Last week I was on a long conference call, working from home. My chair - despite WD-40 - was emitting loud long creaks whenever I moved forward or back. Someone on the call asked for whomever was making that noise to mute their phone - but I was using a long cord for my headset and couldn't reach to press *6 - so I froze in place for the rest of the meeting. I could barely move once the meeting was done, and that's why I''d like to have the Cobi!

So my roommate Mark's life is nothing short of "Office Space" meets "Groundhog Day" - the same, old, mundane routine of battling DC Beltway traffic to haul himself to a thankless accounting job (even getting asked weekly by the receptionist if he has "a case of the Mondays.") Despite this extra large dose of social conformity, he is the most jovial and enthusiastic person. Never one to complain, he had extensive back surgery three years ago to correct extreme scoliosis that left him with four metal rods in his back. Sometimes the pain still gets intense, especially when he is stuck behind a desk in one position all day long.

His office is the epitome of bland and unwelcoming- so quiet you can hear a pin drop amongst the white cubicles in a row, with terribly uncomfortable, ergonomically incorrect task chairs that remind him of each minute he is a prisoner to his desk. In an effort to bring some inspiration and comfort to his office life and physical angst, I would love for him to be outfitted with a Cobi chair which would make such a difference in his everyday life at work. Not only would it help him get through each day, it might even inspire the "Man" that he works for to spring for more Cobi chairs to aid in all that "TPS report" productivity for the worker bees.

I should win a Cobi chair because the guy that I support all day long is working longer hours and is, quite frankly, slowly getting heavier with each and every passing year. Besides, I think a Cobi and I might hit it off. They're pretty cute! Sincerely, Ed's Bottom.

Well today was a very busy day. I have a huge shopping list for college before it starts, so I was all over town, looking for tuxes (I am a musician), getting a prescription for my mother, looking at bikes at the local bike stores due to oversold parking tags, and teaching a few lessons at the Music Instruction Studio, and trying to waste time before I picked my girlfriend up at the airport. So you can imagine that all day, I was everywhere and very busy.

I stopped in the Trek store and didn't find much so I headed towards Greenlife for some tea and a snack. But that's when my inner artist sunk in and I was distracted by the awesome retro/modern things at the Smart Furniture store. Honestly, I am surprised that today was my first visit. I saw Joy, watching for customers, and the Cobi chair just begged even more for someone to sit down. Needless to say, I sat in the Cobi, and for the first time in the day, I felt relaxed and calm, and at the same time, very cool.

It hit me then that Smart Furniture is not ordinary modern furniture. This place sports form and function. I was amazed at all of the functional things I found when looking around, but ultimately, the Cobi chair stood out the most. I kept thinking about the cool colors and the supreme comfort the Cobi offers, and now, sitting in my current chair, I have a burning desire to have a Cobi. My musical life, artistic life yearns for it! Cobi screams modern musician, and having a well trained ear, I have to listen....The Cobi chair is the official chair of cool college students who want beautiful form with "smart" function.

Guess what, I'm that student, in need of a chair that will allow me to do all of my assignments in ease, comfort, and relaxation. After all, the more comfortable the chair, the less breaks I'd have to take. It means I can get my important work done, faster and better! Cobi = college success!

I'm healthy and want to stay that way. But being unemployed and stuck sitting on an old $30 office sale special with an estate sale Tempur-pedic pad! I'm not sure all the time searching the job market, managing finances that get worrisome at times and contemplating how I could manage going back to school and having more time sitting and studying on this stiff board. That's what it is, thanks for the Tempur-pedic so far. Due to the pressures and coffee, I'm submitting this just after 5 AM. My prior employer had awesome ergo chairs and I miss the comfortable seat and lack of getting stiff after a long day, or all-nighter. Mo, my favorite pet cat just arrived for a pet. A reminder to get some rest, or at least a cat nap. Thanks for the chance a comfortable Cobi journey. (Red goes with my office decor. Great design-PLEASE HELP)

I own an interior design studio - it's the size of your palm but I'm working really hard to make it bigger. There are many reasons why I should be the proud owner of a Cobi chair but the main reason is because I just can't sit in my chair any more! For 3 years I have endured the pain for the "look" but it hurts! Yes, fashion hurts but should interior design? I'd love to finally have a chair that fits me and my bite size studio. Nothing says happy, sophisticated, young entrepreneur than Cobi. And white and orange are my studio colors so it would look great too! The Cobi chair won a place in my heart!

Because for the past 10 years I teach environmentally responsible interior design at the accredited, biggest (in number of students in NY) interior design department in a great design school, and I would use this chair to explain principles of ergonomic and sustainable design that can be, and is, beautiful. Your Cobi chair would become perfect showpiece for what can be done, if our creativity is supported by the solid knowledge and the right ethics.

My love, partner, mate, (we are still trying to figure out what fits best as we have decided boyfriend/girlfriend is too sophmoric for the direction we are going) Cornelius is a pyschotherapist and sits on his heinie for a very large portion of the day. He is quite an elegant man but does have some "issues". He has scoliosis and has had sugery on his back a while back (back again) he is in desperate need of a Cobi chair. Now I know this would be perfect for him...the self adjusting, improving posture part is just what he describes as needing. Plus he really apreciates fine, well-made design and aesthetically the Cobis are just his taste/style.

The search for a great chair has been long and rigorous for him and I have wanted to be his super hero by finding him "the perfect chair" only I am just an art teacher who works for a non-profit organization and I am broke (this is where the violins weep sadly in the background). When I was reading my Inhabitat newsletter and came across the chair contest and then went on to read further about the Cobi chair I literally got butterflies in my stomach. It was like finding a map to a hidden treasure.
Cornelius does so much for me that it would be such a pleasure to be able to tell him I had won this amazing Cobi chair for him and he too would be so gracious and his back will feel sooooo... good. He would then be able to fully focus on his clients and not so much on his discomfort. Plus he is an incredible guy who deserves to feel good not to mention how handsome he would look in one of the beautiful Cobi chairs.

The reason why I believe that I should win a new Cobi office chair are as follows: 1. I work for a government agency that hasn''t purchased new furniture in 20 years, and the fabric is sooooooooo nasty! 2. I have back issuses because I fell through a floor (landed in the basement on-top of my bicycle). 3. The chair is awesome!

I am a recent graduate with a master of landscape architecture degree. As a recent graduate in this struggling economy I am struggling to find myself a job with which to BUY one of your BEAUTIFUL chairs and pay off my debts. I sit at my desk all day long, 5 days a week doing some free lance design work when I can find it and searching for potential jobs when I can not.

For the last four years I have been sitting on an ancient wooden stool with a 12" top. My bum hurts. Sometimes at the end of the day all I can do is curl up in a ball on the floor and cry because my backside hurts so badly and I have just received the 10,000th rejection letter. In addition my wife is a massage therapist and ortho-bionomist and at least 50 times a day says to me "posture", which is a reference to the horrible posture the evil wooden stool causes me to take on. A posture that is slowly destroying my otherwise young and healthy body. I think that if I had a beautiful and comfortable chair such as a Cobi Chair my disposition would change so dramatically that I would not only have a happy backside but I would also be fighting off all the firms demanding my assistance. Yes, the positive change it would make in my life would be infectious and would with out a doubt cause every other facet of my life to improve dramatically.

Well... my family has a cool house. The master bedroom used to be the garage. My room is tinkerbell green with a picture of her on my wall. The computer is in the master bedroom now. HOWEVER...the step from the garage to the house is still in the room, and that is what the computer sits on. So no normal seat works. The piano bench is too short, the stool is too tall. The dining room chair is too short AND too tall. My mom can't be on the computer that long because the awkward height hurts her back, which means she NEVER gets on facebook. So when she does, I have to help her and I'm SICK of that.

If we could get a new chair, like the cool Cobi chair, we can adjust it and solve the uncomfortable height problem. And the master bedroom is blue with lighthouses, with a mural of a beach scene on the closet. So a cool pretty blue Cobi chair would be best...... :D

Cobi the chair: for a time, when I was very young, my father, mother, brother and I lived in a mobile home out in the country. We were surrounded by pine trees down a long, winding, red clay road in georgia with our nearest neighbors living about five acres away from us. With rarely an eye to see, it was not unusual during those hot georgia summer days to find my brother and me running naked in the yard. We would be splashing and yelling while we ran through the water that rained down from the sprinkler my mother used to try and save her yearly vegetable garden (we always ended up buying our produce from the farmer up the road).

It was during one of these joyous, wet, naked moments (when I was about six years old) that I decided I needed a dog. My parents refused claiming a dog would be too much trouble and would tear up mom's beautiful (yet shriveled) garden. Not to be deterred, I wiped the tears from my face grabbed a piece of rope from the ground by my fathers work shed and went in search around the house for my new pet to be. With my brother tagging along behind me, I searched in vain for anything that might even resemble a dog. Oh, I had high hopes and some close encounters mind you. A big gray squirrel that chattered at us from the limb of a half dead pine tree, scolding us for chasing him away from his hidden store of nuts. Then a lizard that, for some unknown reason, decided just as I grabbed for him to jumped up and latch itself onto my naked (four year old) brothers chest. Whoa boy! My brother was running in circles, flapping his arms and screaming as I hit at that darn lizard with the end of the old piece of rope I was carrying. At first I thought I had finally succeeded in rescuing my brother but after examining the welt marks on his body, where I had smacked him repeatedly with the rope, we decided I wasn't even close and figured that the ornery thing had just gotten tired of the game, let go and ran under the house.

We were almost ready to give up all hope when the most beautiful thing in the world caught my eye. There, lying in the ditch by the road not bothering anyone, was what was left of an old swivel chair "with wheels". Eureka! Oh the look of astonishment and surprise on my parents faces was reward enough when they spotted their two mighty (and still naked) hunters arriving home for supper pulling a squeaky old chair behind them. It had to sleep outside of course, but we called it "buster" and I would sometimes let my brother ride on him as I pulled him around the yard with that old piece of rope. It only took a week until we tired of our pet and dad ungraciously returned him to the ditch from which he came (rope added).

I am a father now of two beautiful young boys who play naked in the yard as we water our dying garden. They have recently been asking for a dog. However, even though we still live in the country, our home does not have ditches by the road from which my boys might rescue any old piece of furniture. Their mother and I said we would think about it (shudder). Oh that you fine folks could come to our rescue and see fit to send us one of your wonderful Cobi chairs. We would be most grateful and we would call him "buster".
