I purchased these shelves to display photos. I read another review about the espresso color looking black and thought I'd take a chance any way because of the great return policy. The espresso color is definitely black. Not even sure why they call it espresso. I will be ordering another set of shelves soon and hopefully the color is correct on the next set.
Shelves were easy to install, did not have an issue with running into a stud. Screws are visible but once you but your stuff up you should be fine.

These are great shelves and are exactly as described. They are a true expresso color,(like a black cup of coffee) and matched my other expresso furniture perfectly. I'm glad I didn't change my mind in ordering after seeing the other comments that they look black. They are dark, but not black. Extremely easy to install and very secure to the wall. The paint?/paper was coming off these shelves before I even got them on the wall. The white scratched off from the level I set on them. I wish I had kept the boxes so I could send them back. I probably won't buy anything from Smart Furniture again.

Nice shelves for the price. I got a 48, 36, and a 24 inch one to put up on a big wall I have in my living room. It's a good way to fill up with wall with committing to a big piece of art work. It's sturdy and looks like it can hold a good amount of weight, just might have to get different anchors then it comes with.

We have had great complements on these shelves. They seem very sturdy. The only problem we had was that we ordered the Expresso color and although it says Expresso on the box, if I hold the shelf next to something black, the shelves look black. I was quite a bit disappointed by this. They don't really match any of our furniture now but we just used black frames so it looks ok.

I put this above our queen-sized bed to hold family photos. The one I had bought for there was way too massive looking. This one is perfect for above the bed. Looks really sharp. It was just what I was looking for. The only downside was that it was a trifle narrow for the picture stands to fit easily. I made it work, but it would have been nice if the pictures (with stands) could face forward. Bottom line: great deal and I'm glad I bought it.

The hardware provided was inadequate to even hold the ledge on the wall; after purchasing larger and longer screws and installing it, the ledge was unable to hold even one light weight framed picture (the ledge pulled away from the wall). I do not think I will be buying anymore shelving from Smart Furniture.

We are using them for displaying framed family photos.
Service and delivery comments:
The delivery was very prompt. It was surprising, the next day.
Mounting hardware is outlined in the assembly instructions linked in the product details tab. You get 2 screws and 2 drywall anchors to use if not mounting directly into studs. I'm afraid none of the different size ledges have mounting points exactly 24" apart. But you could always make your own holes through the back of the ledge and ideally your photos would cover the exposed screws.

Mounting holes are on 24 inch centers. If you want to align it in a specific spot you will need to drill more holes to find studs. Once you place pictures on the shelf you can;t see the holes or screws
