In his Leaf Personal Light, designer Yves Behar melded a totally original aesthetic silhouette, an ultra-friendly user interface, and environmentally responsible construction- setting a new standard in home lighting.
The striking Leaf light puts the control in your hands- actually, in your fingertips. To adjust the intensity or change the light color from warm to cool, just slide a finger along a groove in the lamp base. And even though it's LED lighting, it isn't hot to the touch. We solved that problem, so you can position Leaf for task lighting, fold it to create ambient light, or straighten the arms for dramatic wall lighting. Without burning your fingers.

Yves Behar has been exploring the design world since his childhood in Switzerland. "In Europe, it is double nature to evaluate objects based on how they work and how they look," he explains. Behar grew up in a bicultural home, influenced by his East German mother and Turkish father. "One is functional and modernist and the other, expressive and poetic," he says. "I always try to marry the two in my projects." For a relatively young designer, he has had a remarkable career. A graduate of the Art Center College of Design, he started out working with high tech Silicon Valley clients such as Apple and Hewlett Packard, eventually gravitating into the sport, apparel, technology and furniture arenas. He has recently applied his penchant for design in desktop lighting for Herman Miller.

Very attractive. Has excellent controls--providing both warm and cool lighting options. very interesting design. The swan like design is an attractive touch. there is a good range of motion, but the designer (Behar maybe) sacrificed some of the range of motion for the unique aesthetic. overall a great product, but is not priced great.

Flimsy plastic covering around hinge area...really? I expect better than that especially if I'm paying [$] for this lamp.Ideal use should be at desk but it seems so unwieldy at times -- not smooth movement/adjustment of head. Or maybe my desk isn't big enough?I really wanted to LOVE this lamp but after maybe 10 seconds, it got HOT real quick and to tell the truth, I was afraid I would burn myself if I wasn't careful around it.Other than that, the concept of the dual lighting system and brightness is superb with easy use.
