Legendary Architect Frank Gehry was commissioned by Knoll in 1989 to create a line of furniture in his distinctive idiom. After three years of work, the resulting chairs, including the High Sticking Chair, were displayed at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The High Sticking designs were inspired by apple crates and the names by hockey terms, and the result is as comfortable and exhilirating as such a meeting of influences could hope. Constructed of laminated maple, and fashioned mostly with ribbon-like waving strips of wood, the chairs break with convention but embrace beauty and innovation.
