Designed for the Hudson Hotel in New York in 1999, the Hudson line is a more neutral transmutation of the classic Navy Chair. According to Starck, these chairs are "an attempt to remain faithful to the Emeco spirit. The styling is meant to be very pure, very reductive. It's not meant to be loud." The Hudson is included in the design collection of the Museum of Modern Art, and was selected by the Chicago Athenaeum as one of the top 100 designs for 2000, winning the prestigious "Good Design Award".
Emeco uses 80 percent recycled aluminum to make its chairs, and the aluminum content in Emeco chairs are 100 percent recyclable. During the production process, aluminum emits no VOCs or aldehydes in any measurable concentration.
In addition to using environmentally friendly materials in the production process, Emeco uses 100 percent recyclable shipping and packing materials (they even use paper tape).
