Product Overview:

The Lancaster Counterstool
by Emeco with Michael Young

Famous for their use of recycled aluminum, Emeco decided to branch out with their Lancaster collection, and we are definitely glad they did. The Counterstool uses a reclaimed ash frame combined with recycled aluminum seat and back for a look and feel that we find irresistible.

The Lancaster collection is the result of collaboration between both materials and individuals. The aluminum seat and back provide an industrial feel that is highlighted by the warmth of the ash frame. Designed by Michael Young, the Lancaster Counterstool embodies his love of industrial heritage and appreciation of natural materials. The wood frame was crafted by Amish woodworkers of Lancaster, PA in collaboration with Emeco, and the result of these three parties coming together is a resounding success.

The Lancaster Counterstool features:
  • 22"W x 18.5"D x 37"H
  • seat height: 24"
  • optional seat pad
  • recycled aluminum and reclaimed ash
  • design influenced by Amish woodworkers of Lancaster, PA

About the Manufacturerback to top
Emeco Furniture LogoEmeco's founder, Winton C. Dinges, was a master tool and die maker with an engineering background. He believed that a hands-on approach to production using outstanding materials would lead to outstanding design and outstanding furniture. It is a vision that has served Emeco well since 1944.

Few organizations have as storied a history as the Electric Machine and Equipment Company. Emeco's first major achievement was the Navy Chair- a chair designed in collaboration with ALCOA for seaworthiness. Since then, it has expanded its offering but held closely to Dinges' vision. Emeco and its manufacturing facilities are based in Hanover, Pennsylvania.
