Mirage Media Stand 8224 by BDI
designed by Al Glass and Cristian Wicha
At A Glance:
Mirage's understated design and sleek black finish make it a sharp choice to support a gloss black TV. Mirage features a black glass top, doors that are fronted with grey tinted tempered glass, and a satin black base and sides. Components are concealed behind IR-friendly, soft-close doors. The BDI Mirage includes adjustable shelves with flow-through ventilation, hidden wheels, and removable back panels for easy access to cables and component connections.
The Mirage Media Stand's top shelf holds up to 150 lbs, and the interior shelves provide more than enough strength for your components, unless you plan on stacking gold bricks inside. If you do, please take a picture so we can all enjoy the sight of massive amounts of gold in a TV stand.
Recommended TV size: the Mirage Media Stand holds flat panel TVs up to 42".
What's To Like:
This TV stand is low, sized for medium-sized flat panel TVs and smaller spaces at 41" wide, and features enough space inside for all your components. It's got IR-friendly glass so you'll never need to open the doors to change channels or skip scenes on a DVD.
What's Not to Like:
While Mirage does many things well, it's an expensive solution. We think it's worth the money, with its superb functionality and good looks - but it's still pricey.
The Bottom Line:
The Mirage Media Stand is a multi-functional small TV cabinet that is well-suited for anyone with limited space who wants to display a flat panel TV and conceal components without losing use of the remote control.
The Mirage Media Center is available in 2 different models: a 2-door model (8224 shown here) and a 3-door model (8227-2).
The BDI Mirage Media Stand is also known by the following manufacturer Item Number: 8224.
Clean and understated, Al's designs are simply sophisticated. Using simple proportions to create clear, understated classic pieces, he adds detail to make his designs stand out above the crowd, often embellishing them with simple details inspired by his life at the beach. Cristian Wicha
Although his designs are inspired by the works of mid-century modern masters, Cristian's designs are clearly 21st century. Cristian looks at furniture design as an extension of the sculptor's art. A perspective that is reflected in his designs which always tend to push the limits of conventional thought.
