Product Overview:

Nelson End Table by Herman Miller
21.5" High x 28.5" Diameter Top
designed by George Nelson

As with many of the pieces designed by the iconic George Nelson, his signature end table is characterized by clean lines and practicality. The round end table is a spot for flowers, a small lamp, a phone, an alarm clock or a coffee mug.

The Nelson Side Table comes in three different sizes to suit your preference. Laminate top and table base are available in three different finishes.

This versatile classic, designed by George Nelson in 1954, can be used in a variety of ways. The clean, graceful lines of the pedestal and legs are typical of Nelson design. And the tables will hold a lamp, a phone, a book and coffee mug, or a bowl of flowers in style.

These can be so much more than end tables. A tall pedestal with small surface, tall with large surface, shorter with large surface. Depending upon the size you choose, a table can work in home or office as a table in an informal meeting area, break room, or lounge; as a bedside table, as a coffee table.

The sculpted, tapered pedestal base can be polished aluminum or white. You can choose tops in white, black, or inner tone laminate with maple veneer edging.

George NelsonWhen writing about the course of his remarkable 50-year career, George Nelson described a series of creative "zaps"--moments of out-of-the-blue inspiration "when the solitary individual finds he is connected with a reality he never dreamed of." It was these zaps that would lead to the creation of some of the most original furniture designs of the 20th century- including the Coconut Chair, the Marshmallow Sofa, and the Nelson End Table.

An early zap came in the 1930s, when he was an architectural student in Rome. Before returning home, an idea struck him: He would travel Europe and interview leading modern architects, hoping to get the articles published in the U.S. He succeeded, and in the process introduced the U.S. design community to the European avant-garde. This set in motion a sequence of what he called "lucky" career breaks that were really the inevitable outcomes of his brilliance as a designer, teacher, and author.

Comments about Herman Miller Nelson End Table:

Great design but the first one ordered came gouged on the underside and the metal was not polished. After waiting 4 weeks, the replacement came with little scratches on the top. The scratches are not horrible, but surprising and the hassel of arranging for a return and the 4 week wait mean I'll probably just keep it.... and never order anything from HM again.

Comments about Herman Miller Nelson End Table:

I use the 16" table between the Blu Dot One-Night Stand and the Eames Chaise, and it's an ideal height as an end table. The white surface is extremely easy to clean, and it's big enough to hold a large table lamp and to accommodate my papers if I choose to use it as a work space while sitting on the floor. It's a versatile little table and the perfect size.
