If you do happen to go for the 10" version, it only holds five pounds. 18" gets you 10 pounds, and bigger shelves go up to 20 and 40. Still, not the strongest shelves on the market.

I like the "look for less." I was looking for a floating shelf to use as an accent to give my master bathroom a spa-like feel. These were cost-effective and I staggered two shelves on an accent wall. I got the look I wanted. The stick-on screw covers for the underneath side of the shelves don't stay on, and, finally just took them off. They really don't show anyway.

I've been looking for a floating shelf that is affordable and after shopping around, I decided to give this shelf a shot (despite the poor ratings it from others). Boy am I sorry!!!! I NEVER write reviews, but I hate this shelf so much, that I think I need to warn other people not to waste their money. My husband is VERY handy and puts together things all the time and he said this was the worst thing I have ever purchased!!! It was very hard for him to get the brackets on and after he finally got the 2 shelves up, the top one was tilting up and the bottom one was tilting down...I had to put something heavy on the top one to weigh it down and basically the only thing I can put on the bottom one is a towel, and even with that you can see the downward tilt. If it didn't leave huge holes in the wall. I would return this as fast as I can...but unfortunately the darn shelf needs to stay where it because we're not redoing a bathroom wall....I wish I would have spent the extra money on another site for a floating shelf!
We ordered 12 10", 3 18" and 2 24". The shelves make a great presentation and give us ample room to display collectibles. Installation was easy - however I would caution against using the supplied drywall anchors in sheetrock. They simply do not open far enough to provide adequate 'grip' to support anything heavier than the shelf itself. There are really good drywall anchors available at hardware stores. This is what we did. After investing what we did on the shelves, we weren't about to put them up with cheap hardware and risk coming home to find a floor full of shards of glass and pottery.

I found this site on the internet after my customer asked for shelves over her toilet. I showed her the picture and she told me to order 2. I received these shelves within a week but one had a chipped corner. I reported it to Smartfurniture, emailed a picture of the damage and a new one was sent out next day, no questions asked! It took way too long to hang these shelves. The instructions were incorrect & the bar was crooked. My husband was cursing for hours. He was very frusterated with the directions. It asked to use a 5/8" size on 1 paper & a 3/8" size on a different piece of paper. We will not be getting these shelves again. In the end he made them work but with way too much effort.

These shelves look great for displaying knick-knacks, home decor and pictures in my living room. Thankfully, I had help installing them to make sure they are well anchored. They don't hold heavy objects, but they do the job and look stylish. Plus, they're affordable. Only downside is that the brackets come packed very tight inside the shelf, and pulling them out was difficult. Looks like the coating on the metal had not dried fully before the bracket was inserted into the shelf. One shelf got nicked when removing the bracket. Had to cover up with a marker. :(

I used two of these shelves in my bathroom to display pictures and my seashell collection. I purchased this product because they were deep and the perfect length for my space. The proportion was great.The only thing that I did not like was the toggle bolts that were provided. They were plastic and the shelves leaned downward slightly. It is really a good system for the shelves - a bracket that is attached to the wall by the toggle bolts and this bracket has 2 long pegs that fit into the shelf. The shelves are the best. I had purchased some from another DIY store in town and I had to take them back. These are all they say they are. Very easy to install, the brackets were well thought out, the shelves do not wobble or slant forward after installation. They actually will hold my 10lb TV where the "other" did not. I did have to add a new hole in the metal so I could get a screw in a stud. Other than that - perfect!

No, but with 8" depth, you can place frame on a narrow strip of shelf liner you can cut yourself to provide grip if you want to, and still have room for other accessories, as well.

Many people do use our floating shelves in the bathroom. Ideally you have some type of fan or method to clear out extreme moisture when bathing but we think this shelf will do just fine. It is not, however, recommended to get wet or to be exposed to direct elements outdoors.
