Product Overview:

Platner Side Table
Polished Nickel Finish

designed by Warren Platner
from Knoll

At A Glance:
Platner Side TableThe Platner Side Table became a classic table as soon as it was released. Now an iconic example of 1960s modernist design, the Platner Side Table is diverse and stylish enough to still be one of the more beautiful and beloved tables on the market. Platner set out to create a delicate strength in his work, as well as a graceful look. This was achieved by constructing the base of the table from thin bent wire rods, close together and welded to circular rings in a way that resembles a sheaf of wheat.

What's To Like:

  • Solid and yet ephemeral (how's that for a five-dollar word?), this table strikes just the right balance between form and function.
  • The Platner Side Table is just the right diameter for those smaller spaces - it's perfect for city living.
  • Metal and glass have always been in style, and you won't find them going out any time soon.

What's Not to Like:

  • Pedigree is often costly, and the Platner Side Table fits that description.
  • Keep the kids away from this table if you get a glass or marble top. Fortunately, the base is wide and sturdy.

The Bottom Line:
You want the logical progression from the work of Eames, Saarinen, and Bertoia? Here you go. This table fits the bill and has achieved fame for good reason.

Features:

  • Overall dimensions: 18" h x 13" diameter base x 15.75" diameter top
  • Base is nickel-finished steel wire with a coat of clear lacquer
  • Top is tempered glass, bevel-edged marble, or veneered medium density fiberboard in a toned or stained finish

The Platner Side Table with metallic bronze rods is also available. Please call a Smart Furniture salesperson at 888-467-6278, and we'll be happy to give you more information!
