The Risom Side Tables, built for Knoll in 1941, embraces a naturalism uncommon for the modernist furniture of the period. Jens Risom was Scandinavian, and that sensibility informed the Risom Side Table in its simplicity. The Risom Side Table is a great example of the straightforward, handsome style that Risom came to embody. The collection includes the round dining table and the amoeba-shaped coffee table.
Table is available in your choice of clear maple with maple legs, ebonized walnut top with ebonized maple legs or light walnut top & legs.
Jens Risom, born in Copenhagen, was greatly influenced by his father, Sven Risom, who was a renowned architect that encouraged his son to learn the business of architecture and design. Risom moved to the United States at the age of 23 and became the design director for Dan Cooper in New York. In 1941, Risom designed the very first chair for Knoll. Today Knoll sells several of Risom's designs, including the Risom dining and low tables, Risom lounge chair, and Risom side chairs. At the age of 90, Risom is still designing new pieces for architects around the world.
Founded in 1938, Knoll has nurtured many of the most inspiring and iconic furniture designs of the last century.
