SM1 Lounge Chair by Knoll
designed by Peter Shelton & Lee Mindel
The Shelton & Mindel SM1 Lounge Chair is airy, clean, and simple, as well as luxurious and beautiful. The traditional conventions of the lounge chair are not subverted or ignored, but merely finessed and sharpened into a near-perfect chair, the Shelton & Mindel SM1 Lounge Chair. The design concepts that drove the creation of the chair were order, enclosure, and intimacy. The slightly overstuffed and elegantly upholstered chairs embrace you, and the lack of extra cushions and pillows, not to mention the extended and wider than usual armrests, accomplish all the goals of the design team and still retain the essential class and formal excellence that mark every well-made Lounge Chair. The Shelton & Mindel SM1 Lounge Chair is a triumph of refined convention. The fixed seat and back on all models allow for easy maintenance. Ideal for reception areas and living rooms, the Collection includes also includes a settee and sofa.
