Originally designed for Knoll in the 1940's, the Splay-Leg Table by George Nakashima is distinguished for its elegant woodworking. Featuring natural, low-sheen finishes and live wood grain patterns, the Splay-Leg Table epitomize Nakashima and his craft.
Wood craftsman and poet George Nakashima studied architecture at the University of Washington in Seattle, the Americaine des Beaux-Arts Fontainebleau in France and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Nakashima received the Craftsmanship Gold Medal from the American Institute of Architects and the Hazlett Award. The subject of several one-man exhibitions, Nakashima also authored The Soul of a Tree: A Woodworker's Reflections.
