Comments about Ekornes Stressless Elevator Ring:

I recently suffered a stroke and it was a little difficlt to get out of my favorite chair Stressless by Ekorne. I ordered the elevator ring which added 1 inch to the height of the chair from the floor. It was just the thing I needed. After some confusion ordering the correct size which required returning one to oder another I finally received it. I cannot praise the Customer service personnel (esp.Leslie) who led me through the process of attaching it. I'm a bit of a slow learner and just didn't see it. She went out of her way, even to Facetime me to guide me through it. It was really easy after all. Each and every customer service person I spoke with could not have been more friendly, more helpful, more personable, more persevering in settling my issue thatn those I encountered. My return was handled quickly and efficiently. It was refreshing! I wish I could name all involved. I feel I made some friends at Smart Furniture and definitely want to order something again.

    • Q:

Neither of my chairs has a date of manufacture on them - I have both a S Vision and L Spirit - how would I otherwise tell which ring they need?
I'm afraid I don't understand the 'clip' but assume it refers to connecting the ring to base?

        A:

When purchasing the Stressless Elevator Ring, you need to know two things: your chair size and date of manufacture because the rings are specific to these two options. In this instance, the size of the chairs are known, but to figure out if you need the original or current version of the ring, here is the info you need to know.

The pre-2012 and post-2012 rings have different diameters (the post-2012 are larger), plus they have a different number of clips for attaching to the base.

Ottoman: The elevator ring for the ottoman hasn't changed

Pre 2012 Small or Medium Recliner: 21.13" diameter swivel ring (6 cliips)
Pre 2012 Large Recliner: 24" diameter swivel ring (6 clips)

Post 2012 Small Recliner: 23.25" diameter swivel ring (8 clips)
Post 2012 Medium Recliner: 24.38" diameter swivel ring (8 clips)
Post 2012 Large Recliner: 25.5" diameter swivel ring (8 clips)

    • Q:

I have a pre-2012 recliner with several broken clips on the swivel ring. I haven't had luck contacting Ekornes & was wondering if ordering the elevator with swivel ring could replace my swivel with broken clips to restore swivel ability (as well as extra height)!

        A:

You should contact the Stressless dealer you purchased your chair from as this is covered under warranty. If you purchased from us this is how we would handle it. Buying the elevator ring with extra swivel right will not accomplish what you need as this swivel ring doesn't attach to the chair base, it is designed to fit between two elevator rings so you can use two of them instead of a single elevator ring.

    • Q:

I am totally confused. The elevator ring I was sent is 23 3/4 outside dimension with six clips. My chair was manufactured in 2012 according to the tag on the bottom of the chair, and it does not fit. My chair has 8 clips, I think. I have read all sorts of conflicting information on the internet. What chairs will this fit? 2011-and earlier?

What is the proper way to stack two elevator rings

        A:

Elevator rings just stack right on top of each other. However, your chair will no longer swivel when using two rings. Please give our sales folks a call at 888-467-6278 to buy a connector that will bring back the swivel.

What is the purpose of an elevator ring? How would I know whether or not I need one, or two or three??

        A:

An elevator ring is used to raise the chair and/or ottoman higher up. You might want one if you feel your Stressless recliner is too low for you to get in and out of. Since the chair is not height adjustable the elevator ring is the only way to make it higher.
