Catharine Coll Graphic Designer Meet Catharine, a stalwart in all things design and our resident Pinterest fanatic & guru. When she's not pre-occupied with exercising her mad design skills to create content on the site, Catharine enjoys a laid-back lifestyle with plenty of listening to music, watching movies, hanging with the roomies, singing, and ballroom dancing (no big deal there, right?!). Here are some other fun tidbits about Catharine: Favorite Quote? "Love all, trust few, do wrong to none; be able for thine enemy rather in power than use; and keep thy friend under thine own life's key; be checked for silence, but never taxed for speech." --Shakespeare What have you experienced here that makes you feel Smart Furniture is a unique place to work? "I accidentally and unknowingly called our CEO "old" in one of my interviews (still have no idea what I said, but I don't think I ever been more terrified)...I still got hired and he seems to want to keep me around. I think that is a tiny testament to the wonderful sense of humor that's a part of daily SF life. And there is always a dog or two in the office, and sometimes ducks and various other forms of life. It's always exciting." If you could converse with any historical figure, who would it be and why? "I'd want to hang out with Ella Fitzgerald in a swanky 1940's club and sing a duet with her. She is one of my all time favorite singers. Louis Armstrong could show up too and I'd be complete." Something about you that not a lot of people know about? "I once competed in a Pillsbury Bake-Off in middle school. My mom secretly entered me and was randomly selected to be one of 30 kids in the region to participate. I turned in a half-cooked chicken pot pie. It was humiliating and I still haven't forgiven my mom for putting me through that. I have recently taken up Ballroom Dancing, and am now training to be an instructor. I still work my retail job at the local mall once a month because I love the people...and my discount." What would your first college roommate say about you? "Art kids are weird. Her friends are loud and obnoxious. Why is there charcoal EVERYWHERE? Ugh...I think I'll send her a facebook message while we're both in the apartment to let her know how annoyed I am." Interesting/creative experiences helping a customer? "I haven't personally helped a customer before, but I am always hearing about how awesome our sales and customer service people are with them!" Catharine's Favorites GUS Timber Side Table I'm pretty much obsessed with the Timber Side Table. I think it's pretty great and super stylish. I'd put it in my house for sure. Steelcase Think Chair I really have grown fond of the Think Chair since I've gotten to sit in one everyday. I love the fully adjustable arms and the great color options. The Concord 3D Knit fabric is a nice addition to our office. MASH Studios PCH Series Canopy Bed I love the PCH Series Canopy Bed...who doesn't like feeling like a princess in a canopy bed? Not to mention one as beautiful as this one!
