"We worked very hard at at that- enjoying ourselves. We didn't let anything interfere with what we were doing- our hard work. That in itself was a great pleasure." - Charles Eames
The effort and focus that implicitly comes with hard work is clear to see in some of the standout designs of Eames furniture, such as the Plywood Chair group, the Aluminum Chair collection, and various storage units. They are strikingly original in their design and just plain ahead of their time. The fact that the Eames enjoyed their work is even more readily apparent when one steps back and takes in their body of work. The sheer volume is staggering, and the highest attention to detail and quality prevails throughout their unsurpassed portfolio of modern classics.
It is only fitting that Smart Furniture bring to you Nelson furniture, the long-time partner of Herman Miller. At Smart Furniture we'd like to say thanks as we make available all of George Nelson's standout furniture designs, from the Swag Leg Group to the Coconut Chair.
A deeply thoughtful and reflective man, Nelson made numerous contributions to the Herman Miller furniture collection during his tenure- with many modern classics to his credit. How many people can say they've created the most famous of anything? Herman Miller associate and designer Isamu Noguchi is one. In the Noguchi Table, Isamu created what is arguably the most famous coffee table ever. A renaissance man who's influence extended well beyond the realm of furniture, his magnum opus remains the Nouchi Table, originally introduced in 1947 and reissued in 1984.
