Carl Hansen and Son Furniture
Beginning in the 1940's, Carl Hanson and Son Furniture working in partnership with the great designer Hans J. Wegner spearheaded the development of the style now know as Danish modern. Hans J. Wegner designed four chairs especially for Carl Hansen & Son in 1949 - among which was the legendary Wishbone Chair, CH24 and the beautiful easy chair with seat and back in uninterrupted paper cord, CH25 - both which has been produced ever since.
Carl Hansen opened his furniture workshop in Odense, Denmark in 1908 and soon became known for the high quality of his work. The company is still owned by the founding Hansen family and is still know for their commitment to quality. All of their dining chairs, dining tables, desks, and lounge chairs are manufactured in their modern factory in Aarup, Denmark with the same level of craftmanship and attention to detail as when Carl Hansen personally was crafting each piece by hand. Carl Hansen furniture can be found in some of the world's leading homes, offices, and hotels.
Carl Hansen Furniture continues to expand their partnerships with today's leading furniture designers. In addition to the classic Hans Wegner designs, the company also produces furniture by he Danish design duo Strand & Hvass as well as Thomas Bo Kastholm, son of the famous Danish architect Jørgen Kastholm. Internationally, Carl Hansen & Son has recently started a design collaboration with the world famous Japanese architect Tadao Ando.
