What are the specs of the desk that this would be mounted to? Is there a thickness or type of wood that is recommended to support the weight?

      A:

The track mounts to the underside of the desk and uses 5/8" long screws. Your worksurface would need to be 1" thick or more. 3/4" thick at a bare minimum but you would run the risk of compromising the table top. Thicker is better.
