No sliding. This chair has great support and comfort ratings. Maybe the biggest pro, though, is that price. Still a bit steep, but you’re definitely going to get your money’s worth.

This isn’t a flashy chair in any way, nor a particularly beautiful one. It’s definitely elegant, certainly classy, but no one would call it an aesthetic breakthrough. The word used early in this review was "unassuming."

This is an excellent recliner. It’s very comfortable, it’s very supportive, and it looks good. In addition, compared to other, similar recliners, it’s cheap. The Ambassador earns a strong recommendation.

Another in a long line of Ekornes Stressless Chairs, the Ambassador Stressless Chair is a worthy entry in the canon. It’s a more structured piece than the Vegas, eschewing some of the padding and “luxury look” many of the Stressless Chairs have. There are gaps in the chair under the arms and the wooden accents and recline mechanisms play a larger role in the look of the Ambassador; but that’s all to the good.

The Ambassador Stressless Chair is a handsome, if unassuming, recliner. Being able to see the processes behind it don’t detract from it’s simple attractiveness, and the restrained upholstery (available in a range of colors) keeps it tight and focused.

In terms of comfort, the Ambassador really comes through. Without the somewhat slippery effect given by loose upholstery and padding, the chair is able to be more supportive and more responsive. It’s also more accurate; the chair reads your body and reclines on command, and because in this chair you’re more securely “held” by the materials, the reading is a lot more accurate, providing better comfort and responsiveness.

Ekornes has produced a lot of Stressless models over the years, and the Ambassador is just one more of which they can be justly proud.

I loved the Ambassador. While I don’t necessarily agree that it’s an improvement over the Vegas, I really have no complaints on it’s individual merits.

COMFORT: 9 of 10
9 of 10 Stars
This is a very comfortable chair. The materials are the same high-quality stock used in the rest of the Ekornes line - leather and woods accents, all soft and supple and welcoming. You expect comfort out of the Ekornes Stressless line, and so while the Ambassador isn’t a major advance over their other products, it more than holds it’s own against the average recliner - it blows them out of the water. The recline function is great, responsive, and very sensitive - I could control it with just a slight shift in weight or position.
SUPPORT: 9 of 10
9 of 10 Stars
The Ambassador Stressless Chair offers great support for the back, and a resistance to sliding and slumping. When you sit in the chair, the tighter materials (in comparison to, say, the Vegas) keep you upright and in the correct (and most comfortable) position. Sitting in this chairs for hours on end never caused me to slump (unless I wanted to) or feel in any way cramped or uncomfortable in regards to my back and shoulders.
RECLINE: 9 of 10
9 of 10 Stars
Like all of the Stressless line, the Ambassador Stressless Chair has a nearly flawless recline mechanism. With a simple, easy adjustment on the side of the chair, you can set the recliner to respond immediately and intuitively to your body. When you want to sit up or lean back, simply putting slight pressure on the chair in either direction results in you getting what you want. With the better-than-usually articulated arms featured on the Ambassador, it was easy to grip with my hands and control recline that way.
STYLE: 7 of 10

This chair gets rid of any semblances of lumpiness or sloppiness by keeping the upholstery tight, simple, and revealing. Rather than rely on heavy padding or loose leather upholstery, this chair gives off a controlled, simple, elegant appeal. If it wasn’t a recliner (and didn’t come with an ottoman) it wouldn’t be out of place in an upscale boardroom. It’s not flashy in any way, but the simple elegance of the chair counts for a lot.
PEDIGREE: 8 of 10

The Ekornes company, based in Norway and with sales all around the world, has been in constant operation since 1934. They have been producing the Stressless line of leisure chairs since 1971, and have enjoyed an unbroken string of success with all of the chairs. They are very well made, very well known, and they live up to their reputation as some of the most comfortable recliners in the world.
VALUE: 9 of 10

High value. The Ambassador Stressless Chair scores higher than the popular Vegas model for this reviewer, but it costs almost $1,000 less. You get all of the same features, improved styling and support, for a lot less money. Of course, you’re still going to be paying about $1,200 for a recliner, so when we talk about value, much of it is in the eye of the beholder. The Ambassador looks good, feels good, and is made by a great company - cost is going to be there. But when compared to brother and sister models, this chair definitely outperforms them in this category.
