Toledo Chair by Knoll
designed by Jorge Pensi
The Toledo Chair is a forward-thinking, almost radical chair, from Barcelona architect and designer Jorge Pensi. The Toledo Chair has become so popular that it now has a place in the Museum of Modern Art.
The Toledo Chair is cast-aluminum, sleek and modern. The chair's material makes it versatile in application; The back of the chair rises high off the seat, with a large space between the seat and back-support area.
About the Designer
|Jorge Pensi studied architecture in Buenos Aires. In 1977, he helped found the Grupo Berenguer. Pensi then achieved his Spanish citizenship and opened an office there in Barcelona. Pensi is best known for his fine chair designs, often focused on fluidity. The Toledo Chair won numerous prizes in Europe, including the First Award Selection from SIDI, Silver Delta Awards from the Assoziazione del Diesegno Industriale and a Design-Auswal 90 Award from the Stuttgart Design Center. The Orfilia chair, designed for Thonet, and Pensi's Olympia lamp for B. Lux came to exemplify Spanish design during this decade.|
